Lacrosse is a great sport which combines agility and athleticism with toughness and speed. Need to learn how to play lacrosse? Here are the steps to consider to learn how you can play lacrosse.
1. Get your Lacrosse Stick.
These can be purchased online or at the local sporting goods store. Not all sporting stores carry lacrosse sticks, so call before hand and check. There are 2 forms of sticks (3 actually including the goalie, but we will just pay attention to the 2 main types). There's a stick for offense which will be the standard type size you've probably seen before. After which there is a defensive stick which is significantly longer. I would go with a standard stick to start with, unless you be sure your going to want to play defense.
2. Work the stick.
By working the stick When i first mean just getting comfortable with it. Hold it, swing with it, move it around etc. Next you would want to learn how to "cradle". Require a lacrosse ball and put it in the net. By moving your stick left to right quickly with your wrist, the ball will maintain itself inside the net, and won't fallout. You are "cradling" the ball inside the internet, rotating the head back and forth quickly. Practice cradling without a ball to find the motion down. Watch yourself in front of one. It takes some practice, but once you got it, cradling will feel like second nature.
3. Get a Workout Routine.
Lacrosse is a very unique sport and you have to train and condition for it properly. You won't just need to do shooting drills, passing drills, and running/pivoting drills, but there also conditioning drills which can make you a greater player. The good news is that with all the internet you can learn all these drills and practice them on your own. I recommend a great lacrosse workout site (such as the one below) which means you have a one-stop spot where you can study and practice everything you need to know about the way to play lacrosse and train correctly for it.
